Northern House 2010

'Arctic Winter Dreams' commissioned by Canada's Northern House for the 2010 Olympics

Arctic Winter Dreams

Intense cold, long winter nights, ice and snow, northern people face incredible challenges to survive in the arctic. Creativity became essential to survival and inspired northern people to invent games which would develop their children’s hunting and survival skills.

Today children in circumpolar communities are inspired and challenged to participate in the Arctic Winter Games. In the painting ‘Arctic Winter Dreams’ the artist was inspired by the enthusiasm and the fearless energy demonstrated by the northern athletes, competing in their chosen sports.
